Men’s Top 8 Hair Mistakes to Avoid – Best Guide.

It is more common for men to ignore their hair. They are always making these unknowing hair mistakes that lead them towards ruining their hair. You’re ruining it every day by making simple hair mistakes.

These simple hair mistakes damage your hair and scalp. It’s alright my brother– you’re not alone – most men make these hair mistakes.

In today’s blog post, We are going to cover the 8 worst hair mistakes most men make and how to fix all of them.

So Let’s dive right in!

Hair Mistakes

1. Damaging Your Hair with Heat.

The most common hair mistakes done by men is taking too-hot showers. Although taking a hot shower feels amazing, you face the risk of damaging your hair.

I’m not saying you need to have a cold shower – you just need to control your shower’s temperature.

Washing your hair with steaming high temp water can feel better and unwinding yet isn’t doing any acceptable to your hair.

Extremely hot water strips your hair of its natural oils or sebum, which leaves your hair dry and brittle

Hot water leads to expediting hair loss and grey hair by weakening your hair roots. Ensure you wash your hair with tepid water or cold water.

Be careful when using a hairdryer as well. The majority of hair dryers’ “hot” settings are much too hot for your hair.

So always keep the hair dryer moving. By keeping the hair dryer moving, you will reduce your hair from being damaged and dry your hair quicker.

2. Not Conditioning Your Hair.

It’s time to start conditioning your hair. What are you waiting for if you haven’t already?

Yes, it’s quite “girly.” It seems that you’re against “girly” girls running their hands through your hair.

That’s what I thought. There’s nothing girly about conditioning your hair. It’s a critical step.

To keep your hair strong and healthy, you must hydrate and nourish it with nutrients after every hair wash. You will end up with dry, brittle, and frizzy hair if you use shampoo alone and ignore the conditioner.

After you cleanse your hair, you need to use a conditioner.

It’s an absolute must for guys with medium-to-long hair to keep their hair healthy and shiny. It keeps up with the general soundness of your hair and makes it more reasonable too.

To get the best results out of your conditioner, make sure you are using the right water temperature. You should use cold water to rinse out the conditioner.

3. Picking The Wrong Hairstyle.

I get it if you see a celebrity and fall in love with their hairstyle. So you try to copy the look. But it never turns out quite right…

You have to be aware of your hair type and the styles that work well with it. There are two main groups of hair types: straight and curly.

It’s quite strange but true that even a wrong hairstyle can lead to thinning of hair which is a big hair mistakes of all.

For example, when you opt for tight man buns or cornrows, they put a lot of stress on your follicles, which can lead to hair fall which is a hair mistakes to avoid.

A receding hairline can be avoided if you maintain a relaxed haircut, which will decrease pressure and tension on your follicles.

Below are a few options for different hair types.

For Thin Straight Hair:

short quiff, undercut, side-swept, short and tousled, hard part, or subtle spikes.

For Thick Straight Hair:

pompadour, quiff, slick back, side part, or textured crop.

For Wavy Hair:

textured fade, side part, slicked back, high and tight, or tousled waves.

For Coiled Hair:

hockey cut, high and tight with curls on the top, beach curls, fringe, or side part.

For Kinky Hair:

buzz cut, high top fade, short afro, long afro.

Choose your favorite hairstyle that suits your type of hair and have it with confidence. Be careful not to get stuck with the same haircut forever it is kind of common hair mistakes of guys. Variety is the spice of life. “Spice” up your hairstyle.

4. Shampooing Too Much.

While you may believe that washing your hair daily is the best course of action, doing so will actually cause your hair to become weak and dry as time goes by, leading to hair thinning. Which is the worst hair mistakes.

Washing your hair less regularly is the best approach to deal with this because it protects your hair follicles. To prevent hair loss, use nourishing shampoos and conditioners.

5. Not Using the Correct Styling Products

Styling products are supposed to make your hair look good but it can have opposite results as well if you use them almost every day.

For instance, both wax and pomade include strong chemicals, excessive use of them might cause your hair follicles to become dry and damaged.

Plus, by this hair mistakes hair loss may result from these products’ excessive use .

So in a world where thousands of styling products exist that make various claims, it might be challenging to choose the right one for you.. I’ll make it easy for you.

The type of hair you have plays a big part in choosing what kind of product to use.

If you have thin hair, you want a lighter product like a gel or cream that won’t weigh down your hair. Pomades and other heavy products can make your hair look even thinner.

If you have thick, straight hairs, or curly hairs, you might need a product with a stronger hold, such as clay, or pomade.

Remember, high shine products are suitable for a formal, “Don Draper” look, while low shine is better for a more casual style.

Try a variety of products until you find the one that works best for you. Don’t be afraid to do this! Just make sure they’re natural styling products– otherwise you’re doing yourself a disservice!

6.  Using Too Much Hair Products.

Odds are you’re using too much product.

Many men put a lot of gel into their hair and think that their hair is fine.

By using too much product, they are losing money and making their hair appear carried down.

So How much product should you use?

  • For Short hair (2 inches) use a nickel-sized amount of product.
  • For Medium length hair (2 inches to 5 inches) use a quarter-sized amount.
  • For Long hair ( 5 inches or more) use two quarter-sized amounts or more.

It could be time to move on to a product with a stronger hold if you are applying the suggested amount of product and you are still having trouble controlling your hair.

If you can no longer see the product on your hands, place it in your hands and rub them together to warm it.

Once the product is evenly spread into your hair, softly run your hands through it.

Also, avoid applying your product on wet hair. Too much moisture may limit the growth from properly protecting your hair.

Your hair should be slightly damp, not soaking wet.

7. Not Knowing Your Brushes & Brushing Wet Hairs.

Clearly all you need is a comb to get any desired look, right?

Then you are wrong my friend!

The volume, the way it lays down, and the clear thickness of your hair can all be strongly affected by the brush’s shape and bristle number.

Depending on the bristle thickness, even combs can provide wildly ranged aesthetics.

Your task isn’t finished with washing your hair. How you treat it post hair wash likewise has a major effect.

Many men brush their hair while it is extremely wet which can lead to unwanted breakage and hair loss which is the worst hair mistake.

Allowing your hair to air dry a little before brushing is a good idea because wet hair can be weak.

Allow your hair to settle after shampooing before combing through hair that is wet.

After that, free your hair with a wide-tooth comb to minimize pulling and stop hair loss.

8. Quit Smoking.

You might feel great after smoking, but your hair doesn’t.

One of the main factors that causes thinning of hair is smoking as it lowers blood flow to the head.

It can lead to oxidative stress, which can hinder the natural activity of hair growth.

Your hair may grow back after you stop smoking, but it will depend on how long you’ve smoked and whether your circulatory system has already been harmed.

Fixing all 8 of these worst hair mistakes will make your hair look and feel better, and others around you will notice!
